The Fifth Joint Trade Sub-Commission Meeting between Vietnam and India examines expanding bilateral trade.

The Joint Trade Sub-Commission (JTSC) between India and Vietnam convened for the fifth time on Tuesday in New Delhi. During the discussion, the two nations talked about the logistical issues that impact their bilateral trade. Both countries agreed that it is critical to solve these issues and indicated a shared interest in investigating potential solutions, including joint freight movement, direct shipping services, and enhanced aviation connections.

The meeting was held because of Covid-19 and other considerations, according to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, after a break of more than four years since the 4th JTSC meeting in January 2019. The conference was co-chaired by Phan Thi Thang, the deputy minister of the Vietnamese ministry of industry and trade, and Rajesh Agrawal, the additional secretary of the Indian ministry of commerce and industry.

India and Vietnam examined the state of their bilateral trade and economic relations during the meeting. To increase trade cooperation, the two countries identified promising industries, including consumer goods, energy, machinery and equipment, pharmaceuticals, textiles, footwear, chemicals, fertilizers, and the automotive and agricultural sectors. Additionally, the two parties decided to cooperate in order to overcome technical obstacles and concerns about market access that the exporters were facing through consistent and ongoing bilateral talks.
